We are here
Melton Constable located where it is today started to grow with the arrival of the railway in the 1880's. It had a station which in its hay-day had lines leaving in 4 directions.
The village also hosted an engineering works that manufactured and repaired engines of the time. The railway influence continued until the mid 1960's culminating in the demolition of the station in the early 1970's.
Melton as a consequence still prides itself in its railway heritage and the terraced railway workers houses, bus shelter and village sign are reflections of this.
The sign on the right was itself redesigned and refurbished by the owner of Buildersbrook.
